The first step is to gather the pages you will be using in your album. You can use either scrapbook paper or pages from old or other photo albums. They should all be of the same size and they must have at least two or three holes punched along one side of each page.

Now measure the height and width of one album page. You may refer these as measurement A. Add ½ inch to the width and 1 inch to the length to determine measurement B. For a better idea, you may say that if measurement A is 8 x 11 inches, then measurement B will be 8½ x 12 inches.

The third step is to cut out the piece of leather to the same size as measurement B. cute another piece, i.e., a second piece of leather in the same measurement. Now you have the front and back covers of the album.

Then lay the front piece of your album cover and place one album page on top of the leather. Now move the page to the far left in such a way that its left edge is even with the left edge of the leather cover. The page should be ½ inch from the top and bottom edge of the leather cover.

You have to mark the location of the holes by drawing through the holes with a pencil.

Use the leather hole puncher to make holes in the leather on the markings you have made with pencil.

On the second piece of leather, repeat steps 4 to 6.

You may add a personal touch to the cover by decorating the front of the cover by burning a design into the leather using a wood burner. Draw a design you like with a pencil first, and then trace with the hot burner.

The last step is to assemble the album by inserting the pages between the front and back leather covers. You can use fancy things like leather strips, shoelaces or gold and silver rings for binding the album.
